ahh the freedoms of a Sunday morning [Jan. 20th, 2008|12:08 pm]
[Current Location |starbucks @ broad and pine]
[mood | chipper]

So today just seems like it is going to be a perfect day. I woke up this morning and made a Texas breakfast staple, migas. I was on my way to the office to mail a package and check through some work emails when my fingers started to hurt really bad. It was my nearly frost bitten fingers. Had a starbucks gift card and that is where I am right now. Today Michelle and I are going to watch the whole borne identity series movie thing. I am making falafel today and we have lots of popcorn. I love movie days with Michelle. I am off tomorrow and am painting michelles bike red. And Tuesday it is getting put back together. Wed is back to work but we are going to new York for trade shows. This is my first work related trip outside Philly. I wished I worked in design, they take European trips at least 2 times a year. Maybe sooner or later they will ask me to move over. It is 24 degrees and if my fingers hold up I am off to the office, home depot, the grocery store and hollywood video. This is such a nice day, cold but nice.

on a train to south Carolina [Oct. 12th, 2007|09:05 am]
[music |fugazi]

I took today off work to go to my sisters wedding. It is actually just them reenacting their vows in front of family. It should be good. I have never taken the Amtrak before but it is kinda nice. I have about 10 more hours on the train before I get to Charleston.

Work is going well as is everything in Philly. I am looking forward to family and friends visiting as the holidays grow near. Guess that is about it. Lates

Went to the UT fashion show last night. It was really good. It was great to see the seniors have the great payoff of all their hard work. Today I gotta work till 4 then I'm going down to san Antonio to see family. I have been pretty busy lately doing stuff to prepare for the hill country ride for AIDS next sat. I'm not in the same shape as I was last year this time due to not pedicabbing but things should work out ok. My big brother is riding with me this year so we should keep a good pace for the ride. Should be a fun weekend filled with camping with my dad and bro and riding and chillin.

Time for work. Lates.

back from san Francisco [Apr. 15th, 2007|03:10 pm]
[Current Location |DFW airport]
[music |nofx]

I'm in the Dallas airport now waiting for the flight to Austin. San Francisco was really fun. Michelles confrence went well. Despite gaving major problems with her presentation poster we got it sent and printed to a kinkos 20 miles south of san f and picked it up a few hours before she was scheduled to present. I also drove the fuck out of a giant truck I rented when our compact car wasn't ready. Although it was much bigger than a pedicab I had the same mentality of weaving in and out of traffic. We also went out to Muir woods to check out some redwoods. There was so much more but I have to board soon. There will be some pics too!

Help me raise money for AIDS [Mar. 29th, 2007|07:09 pm]
Hey livejournal friends. I am riding in the Hill Country Ride for AIDS again this year to raise money for people living in central Texas with AIDS and HIV. This year i am putting on an alleycat race on Sunday April 8th where all the entry fees go directly to the Hill Country Ride. If you or anyone you know would like to either participate in the race, help me put on the race (man checkpoints, take photos, hang out, hand out prizes) or offer some type of a prize (anything at all really) please let me know and check out the flyer.

If you are busy that day but would like to help me raise some money for the Hill Country Ride for AIDS you can donate to my page here.

i put them bagind bars [Feb. 13th, 2007|01:42 am]
So I'm updating my ljay from my new phone. It is some fancy shmancy blackberry phone with too many functions but I'm pretty stoked on it. I might get rid of my home internet cause this has everything.

This might be an ambitious post but I'm gonna tell yall about my weekend.

I stopped a robber. Sat morning my dad got up to go to work. I was getting up at the same time and headed to the shower. Just as I was gonna turn on the water I heard my dad say "call the police they just broke into my truck". I thought that sucked cause I just got broken into on Tue. But then dad said "he hit me on the head" and I figured the dude was still out there.

So my dad runs out after the guy and I grab my shoes and phone AND my bike. So by the time I get out and catch up with my dad the guy is out of sight. So I'm riding along asking my dad what the guy is wearing and where he went. My dad tells me and I chase after the guy, catching up with Him as 911 is asking where I am. The guy runs into this house and I stood outside while the cops come. He keeps looking out at me to see if I'm still there and I just throw my hands up in the air like "what the fuck I'm not stepping off". So the cops show up, I call my dad to tell him where to come to and the owner of the house shows up. The cops talk to her and she gives them a key. They went in with guns drawn after he refused to come out. I thought he slipped out the back window but as luck would have it the house had burglar bars over all the windows! So the cops pulled hiM out, we ided him and he was arrested. The cops came back to my house to gather all the stuff the dude left behind when he ran. He had an other car stero and lots of stolen mail.

So yeah I felt really good about helping capture that guy.

This phone is cool and as hard as it was to update this on the phone I think ill keep it.

This is a project im working on [Dec. 18th, 2006|08:32 pm]
"Pink" is a love courier service. We get love notes from people and send them via bike messenger to the people that are supposed to get it. It is free, you can send as many notes as you want and they are all hand bottled in a little glass bottle, a tag with the persons initial sewn on is attached to the bottle. Within the bottle is a rolled up love letter that the sender can personalize as well as instructions on how to send love notes of your own.

The main headquarters is at 237 w. 2nd st and you can also drop off love letters at the satellite locations: Epoch Coffee Shop (north), Clementine Cafe (east), Ruta Maya (south), Mozart's Cafe (west).

This is all part of First Night Austin, and is sponsored by some lady. The one lady talking on the video is the one who came up with the idea and is pretty much running the show, we are just around to help.

I have been messengering but also helping out at the headquarters by sewing and plotting deliveries on a huge wall map.

We bought 3000 bottles and at the rate we are going, we might need to order some more. If you have time you should go check it out. It is a lot of fun and when a person gets a random love note, they get really excited.

If you see bike riders wearing pink and grey with their bikes decorated in pink wearing a pink and grey messenger bag, that is just one of us, so wave and say "what's up."

ITS MOTHERFUCKING SHARK WEEK!

Besides that everything here in new york is just ok. I'm gonna hit up the statue of liberty some time this week cause my aunt really really wants me to see it and sent me some cash so i'll go. i've been drinking sodas like crazy and need to stop. Work is ok but it sucks that it will be ending soon. I'm going back to tx on august 12 so see yall then.
Can i ship a bike to someones house the week before i get to austin? It will be an a box and you can just set it aside for a few days until i can pick it up.

this place is poop [Jul. 28th, 2006|07:30 pm]
you know what i dislike about this city most. The people are so inconsiderate. When an emergency vehicle is trying to get through they could care less, even in no traffic they dont care that someones life could be at stake. If you know me you know that is one of the things that makes me happy, when people help each other out ESPECIALLY moving out of the way for emergency vehicles.

Next, people in subways are assholes, well not everyone just the young males 15-30 yrs. I just glare at them as they sit there with their legs spread way open, taking up 2 seats while pregnant ladies, older senior citizens and people who just look really tired stand up.

i cant wait to get back home (atx).

i dont know if i mentioned this before but when i saw the beginning of Madagascar last week, i thought i would really miss new york city. Animation and cute talking animals make everything seem better than it really is.

aww rats. [Jul. 25th, 2006|04:30 pm]
I saw my first new york city rats last night. There was one of them on the subway tracks, and then about a little later 2 more came out, and they were fighting.

they were not as big as i thought they were supposed to be. I gotta keep my eyes peeled for the big ones.

Yesterday i watched a documentary on showtime about a homeless man. He agreed to be followed around by the film makers for some time. The show followed him around for a few days and then set up a briefcase in a dumpster with $100,000 bucks with a note that said "what would a homeless person do with a hundred thousand dollars?" He was blown away. This is how he spent his money, in a nutshell.

To get some background on this guy he drinks a lot, used to do all kinds of drugs, recycles for money, averages about 15 dollars a day, and does not really talk with his family anymore.

1. Bought a new bike (The only purchase i approved of) $1,000
2. Bought a kid that was nice to him a new car. $10,000
3. Bought a plane ticket to visit his family in nor cal, dont know how much.
4. Kept buying beer. and some weed too
5. hotel room for a week, and a lady friend.
6. A truck, he was excited that it had a "Hemi" im sure he didnt know what a hemi is nor needed it but the dealership made that the selling point. $35,000 He also bought the truck before he checked to see if he can get a license.
7. A second truck, that he gave away to some lady he had only known a month.
8. Tons of money entertaining more lady friends.
9. An apartment.
10. A playstation

so my point is that he bought all lots pointless shit, didnt look for a job, and at the end of the show, 6 months after it started, he had less than 5 thousand dollars left.

when the show started i was really rooting for the guy, but as he started to spend his money unwisely i really wanted him to fail. I was getting so pissed and knew where this was going.

if you have showtime on demand you should check it out, i think it was called reverse fortune.

first of all there is this. His name is Jimmy Levan and he dont play.

Next is this guy, Scot Breithaupt. One of the pioneers of BMX racing and he just got married. He was really down and out at one time, into coke and bankrupt, but he turned his life around and is happy. so yeah, thats all.

Im watching this show about capturing pythons and these guys are in a small tunnel where the python lives. The idea of being in a small 20" diameter tunnel kinda makes me want to throw up.

just a few things from watching cable tv all day [Jul. 15th, 2006|04:03 pm]
These are just a few things i need to get off my chest from watching cable tv all day.

1. the previews for Little Man movie make me want to vomit. That little baby thing is the most horrifying faces on tv right now. Not to mention that is one of the stupidest ideas for a movie, just like freddy got fingered. i hope that movie fails. actually it's certain that movie will fail.

2. the second most horrifying face on tv goes to the Indian girl on that show "my super sweet 16" on mtv. Though i should feel at fault for watching that show but i kept laughing at them and screaming "stupid bitch" to the tv. She says that her family is the richest family in beaumont and she throws a fit for anything, and she thinks she is hot. I really felt bad for Beaumont Texas (where the two girls are from) because the entire town was so excited that this huge party was going on.

3. The Hills is just as bad as My Super Sweet 16.

ok i gotta get back to home alone 2, i might be able to catch the last hour of it.

ahh greg graffin you're the best [Jul. 13th, 2006|06:56 pm]
Greg graffin played his show tonight, it was bad ass. I was afraid he was gonna close the show and i'd have to sit through the new amsterdamns and the weakerthans but he played first. He played a bunch of songs from his new cd, and he did acoustic versions of Sorrow and God Song. I split right after he played his set so i could get home early. Today was a long day. any chance i got i was falling asleep, on the train, on the computer, at work, everywhere. I got home and took a short nap, then watched beavis and butthead. It was my favorite eposide where they learn about manners. The best part, and the part that makes this my fav episode is when beavis and butthead are in the bathoom and beavis goes "it doesnt want to come out" and butthead goes "why dont you try and use manners"
"Please come out of my butt. Please , hehe thank you drive thru"

yeah that's all i got.

Greg Graffin is playing on thursday! [Jul. 10th, 2006|04:29 am]
There are maybe only 4 of 5 times in my life when i have been this excited, actually maybe only 2 or 3 since this has been a sort of borring month.

I was looking around to see if i was gonna be able to catch Rancid play here in ny cause they are playing austin this week. I was bummed cause they were playing ny after i leave. So i went to pollstar to see what shows were going on and i see greg graffin is playing on thrusday!

I kept sayin, "oh my god holy shit" and went to confirm it and sure enough it is going on.

for those of you who dont know greg graffin is the lead singer of bad religion and seeing him play his solo albums live is gonna be amazing!

ok just had to rejoice a little.

thats all

go with me to brooklyn tomorrow night? [Jul. 6th, 2006|10:21 pm]
[Current Location |207th and broadway]

hey my friends band is playing in brooklyn tomorrow and i wanna go, but not alone. anyone live in new york that wants to go? pleeeeeze!

in other news i got some free clothes from work today, they are neat.

bmx bicycles rule and a new trick is gonna be learned tomorrow, CanCan Footplant(does anyone know what that means?) in your face!

New Jersey govt is not working right now, it's pretty wierd but has no effect on me.

I rode in my first alleycat in new york and it was soo tuff i quit. I didnt know where any of the stops were, and i lost the guy i was following in china town (crazy chineese people, you can squeeze so many of them into just one street and they make you loose your friends in the madness). They are way different than alleycats in austin, they are during the day at 2pm, and there is way more traffic, and you dont know where anything is cause you just moved here.

Unforutnatly one of the major things i like about cities is its bike culture, and i really dont feel like i can get into the bike culture here in nyc. NOTHING compares to austin bike culture, nothing.

bike snob signing off.
